Caught by the meme

Caught by a Meme

'Cause Ancarett and Wolfangel and profgrrrl and Dr. Cheeky are all doing it.
A. First, recommend to me:
1. A movie:
2. A book:
3. A musical artist, song, or album:

B. Ask me three questions, no more, no less. You may ask me anything you want (however, I reserve the right to weasel out of answering if I feel its necessary!).

2. Human Croquet, Kate Atkinson
3. Tom Waits, The ocean doesn't want me

B
1. How would you choose to have a birthday cake for youself decorated?

1. But History always repeats itself, doesn't it?
2. creme brulee ... I think
3. Tough question, because I've never really disliked anywhere I've lived. Based on my travel experience so far, I'd say that if I could find a job there, I'd be happy in London if I also had enough money to live in Putney or Blackheath or an equally cool neighborhood. Seattle would also be really nice, but again, housing prices are steep.

1. With one of those elegant smooth marzipan covers in autumn colour and seasonal flowers (it would have to be dahlias, probably)

2. Does my cat, Spooky, count? He was this wonderful black Manx who had been hit by a car on two occasions and suffered broken vertabrae and heaven knows what else -- but he let me dress him up in doll clothes and sacked out in the pram for hours. For inanimate toys, probably my giant pink teddy bear, Oso.

3. I have no toys I love anymore. I'm semi-addicted to my computer, but other than that, I think maybe only my food processor.

1. If you have one 'superpower' what would you choose?
2. What is your favorite holiday and why?
3. When thinking about your future, what do you most look anticipate?

Prof. Cheeky --
1. I've always thought the best superpower would be the ability to speak every language -- including, of course, the animal tongues.

2. Veteran's/Armistice day. I wish we held a moment of silence as they do in most of Europe. I just think it's the one day where, if we teach our history well, really can bring the horrors and sacrifices of war, and the great responsibilities involved in declaring war, to the forefront.

3. Prosaically, I look forward to being out of debt. Hopefully, I look forward to a tenured position and having the security to travel and research. Boring, but those are really the only things I'd change about my life.
