Yep -- not actually avoiding academic work (except for marking discussion boards and paper proposals). But I saw this at maggie may's and she says that luckybuzz says only the boys are doing it, so ...

Hey, it's a moral imperative (is that one on the list?)! I've bolded the ones I've seen, starred the ones I've loved.

And no, I don't know who made up the list. There are films that I'd definitely add as "should sees".
update: It's Roger Ebert's list, apparently. That probably explains why The Princess Bride, His Girl Friday, Real Genius, nor anything with Fred Astaire, nor anything by Mel Brooks or Blake Edwards is on it ...

Excellent list! - but I agree with your "moral imperative" - "real Genius" should be on there!

ALways glad when people recognize lines from my faves!

Love that flick! My favorite line is Kent's answer to their question "what about that time we caught you naked with that bowl of Jello?" - "I was hot and I was hungry."

How can you go wrong with giant jiffy-pop, bunny slippers, and an underground lair?

I'm pretty sure His Girl Friday *is* on Roger Ebert's Great Movies list and I *know* Trains, Planes, and Automobiles is (and it's not here) so I'd question the attribution.

Btw, His Girl Friday is one of my absolute faves.

Oops, take it back -- HGF isn't on his list, but Planes, etc. is, and I'm almost completely certain it was on the "first 100" list, too.

I have this on my blog and I didn't get it from another blogger, I pulled it off www.rogerebert.suntimes.com. So I didn't just make that up. I'm telling you.
