Obesity Pandemic?

Obesity Pandemic?

This just in. Yes, it's bad. Yes, it's a real problem. Yes, there are lots of changes to our way of life that might help -- not adding corn syrup to everything, not commuting and working ridiculous hours so we rely too much on fatty, salty, sugary fast foods and exercise more. Not making those foods so cheap ...
But pandemic? Surely it's not contagious.

Last year I went to India.
People looked trim and healthy, at least in downtown Delhi. They looked like North Americans 25 years ago.

This year I went to Latvia and was astonished by how fit people were.

Coming back both times was a terrible shock.

Oh, I know it is. I need to lose about 20 pounds -- and I say this not because I'm obsessed, not because my BMI is not perfect (but I think I am in the overweight range -- well under obese), but because I have pictures of me 20 years ago, and I looked fine -- not model thin by any means, but healthy. I don't want the fact that everybody is heavier doesn't make me feel better. I mean, I can run a 5k in under 30 minutes, but I would like to feel more in tune with my own bosy -- which I did 20 pounds ago.
