A Heartbeat Away

A Heartbeat Away

Susan Collins? NO

Kay Bailey Hutchinson? NO

Olympia Snowe? NO

Christine Todd Whitman? NO

Condi Rice? NO

Jodi Rell? NO

Linda Lingle? NO

Any number of other competent, experienced Republican women?? NO

Sarah Palin???

John McCain turned 72 today. I don't care what his doctors say about his health -- he doesn't look all that great to me, and besides, all kinds of things can happen.

DO you really want this woman a heartbeat away from the White House?

I'm not going to run through the list you mentioned right now, but I think it might be her being more strongly anti-woman's right to choose an abortion than some other Republican women in executive positions or senior legislative positions. And being younger than Obama.

I can't remember if Alaska is one of the states the Democrats see any chance of tipping into blue, which may be another factor. It's been so solidly Republican that I can't see that being a factor, which is similar to the choice of Biden being from a safe state.

Nathaniel -- I'm sure those are all reasons -- but you know, I'd rather McCain chose someone who could do the job as much as someone who could help him win the election.

On the other hand, she's not Huckabee

And most of the ones you mentioned aren't actively under investigation for abuse of power, either. Though, the way the current administration swings, abuse of power might be a job requirement....

She might be as bad as GWB or Dick Cheney!

As if anyone still in the GOP would be a reasonable pick...

After all DC is still in a position to blow up the world before Jan 20.

SP is now gracing (?) the covers of "OK!" magazine, "People," "Us Weekly," and...(drumroll)... the "National Enquirer." I'm not sure if the saying "There's no such thing as bad publicity" really works here...

It's kind of hard to take a political candidate seriously when they're featured on a cover next to the "Secret behind Duchovny's sex rehab!" ("National Enquirer" cover)

Yeesh.
